Spring Family Orientation

Monday, January 13, 2020

As the parent or family member of a student, you play a crucial role in your student’s successful transition to UT Austin. Spring Family Orientation is a half-day program that introduces you to the resources unique to UT Austin and provides expectations for your student’s experience.

Spring Family Orientation takes place while your student attends their Spring Student Orientation program. Upon arrival, students and families will be directed to separate check-in locations, both located in the William C. Powers, Jr. (WCP) Building, fomerly the Student Activity Center. You will not reconnect with your student during Spring Family Orientation. Although Spring Family Orientation is only a half-day program, you will not be permitted to participate in the remaining Spring Student Orientation programming.

While Spring Family Orientation is optional, we strongly encourage you to attend. You’ll go home feeling more connected to the university and equipped with conversational topics to connect more deeply with your student as your family continues preparation for the transition this semester.

Register now!

Online Registration will close on Wednesday, January 8.

Registration Need-to-Knows:

  • Your incoming student should not register for or attend August Family Orientation as he or she will be attending a separate student orientation concurrently.
  • August Family Orientation and August Student Orientation have separate registration and payment systems.
  • Some college/schools are not participating in August Family Orientation. Due to size and staffing constraints, these colleges/schools prioritize meeting with students during Orientation and are unable to meet with the families. Specific college/schools that will not be participating will be listed when registration opens.
  • The lunch is provided for Family Orientation attendees only. Students will not attend the lunch and are encouraged to eat lunch with fellow Student Orientation attendees. Be sure your student has money to purchase lunch.
