Congratulations to your student on their acceptance into The University of Texas at Austin!
Transfer Family Orientation is a one-day, in-person program (occuring on July 24, 2026) that introduces you to University leadership, professional staff and current students who will share important information and advice. Transfer Family Orientation registration is OPEN on the Texas Parents and Families Portal!
Please note that new transfer student orientation will have a separate registration process. More details about new transfer student orientation can be found on the Longhorn Orientation website.
We strongly encourage parents and family members to attend as you will go home feeling more connected to the University and equipped with conversation topics to better support your student as your family continues preparation for the transition in August.
How to sign up in the Texas Parents and Families Portal:
- Create your own personal account on our Texas Parents and Families Portal.
- If you are a family member of an incoming transfer student accepted into the Fall 2026 semester, please make sure to select the year that coincides with what year your student is coming in as in field when creating your account.
- After you have completed your account, your newsfeed will populate with relevant information for the year that your student is.
- Check in periodically to see what updates are happening on campus and what new information will be relevant for your student!

Online Registration
Online registration is OPEN and can be accessed through the Texas Parents and Families portal. The attendance charge for Family Orientation covers all-day programming, one meal and one t-shirt. It does NOT include parking or housing.
- $50 per attendee
- Children 4 years of age and younger are free
- All registration charges are non-refundable
You will need your student's UT EID to register. When you register online, you will immediately receive a confirmation email of your session and payment. On the Tuesday evening prior to your session, you will receive a final details email that contains important information about the day's schedule, location and parking information. Please contact the Texas Parents office if a registrant requires a translator in order to attend TransferFamily Orientation.
Registration closes on Thursday, July 16 at 11:59 p.m. (CT).
Same Day Registration
If you are unable to register online or miss the registration deadline, you can register on the morning of the program in the Walk-in Registration room during Check-In at the Texas Union. Charges can only be paid with credit/debit cards and are as follows:
- $60 per guest
- Children 4 years of age and younger are free
Siblings & Children
Younger siblings and children will attend the same programming as adults and will need to be registered if they are in attendance. We understand it may be necessary for younger children to accompany you; however, if you are able to attend without them, that is preferred as the programming will be structured to an adult audience.
